Species information

Psidium guajava     L.

This introduced tree is commonly known as guava.

Psidium guajava is described as a "dicot" in the Myrtaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Naturalised in Hervey Bay and Maryborough areas and along Mary River and lower Tinana Creek. Forming dense stands in some areas. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 31 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple, Bidwill, Boompa, Booral, Dundathu, Dundowran Beach, Glenorchy, Gootchie, Granville, Howard, Island Plantation, Kawungan, Maryborough, Maryborough West, Mount Urah, Nikenbah, Owanyilla, Paterson, Pioneers Rest, Point Vernon, Prawle, River Heads, Susan River, Talegalla Weir, Teddington, Tiaro, Tinana, Toogoom, Urraween, Walkers Point, Yengarie.
