Species information

Rhodomyrtus psidioides     (G.Don) Benth.

This native tree is commonly known as native guava.

Rhodomyrtus psidioides is described as a "dicot" in the Myrtaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Critically Endangered. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Listed in Queensland as Critically Endangered due to susceptibility to myrtle rust fungus, Austropuccinia psidii. Included in the list of 50 most imperilled plants in Australia (Silcock, J., Collingwood, T., Llorens, T., Fensham R. 2021. Action Plan for Australia's Imperilled Plants. NESP Threatened Species Recovery Hub, Brisbane.). Previously reported along Tinana Creek, in vicinity of Lenthall's Dam, Mout Urah and at Yerra. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 10 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple, Bauple Forest, Duckinwilla, Howard, Magnolia, St Mary, Talegalla Weir, Teddington, Tuan Forest, Yerra.
