This native tree is commonly known as Fraser Island satinay.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.
Recorded distribution in Fraser Coast region only on K'gari (Fraser Island) which is the northern limit of the species. Elsewhere restricted to on deep sands at Cooloola and on North Stradbroke and Moreton Islands
