Species information

Ardisia elliptica     Thunb.

This introduced shrub is commonly known as shoebutton ardisia.

Ardisia elliptica is described as a "dicot" in the Myrsinaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Pinkish five petalled flowers with outside covered with tiny dark spots. Alternate leaves with gland dots. Garden escapee in Hervey Bay bushland areas. 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 9 Fraser Coast localities: Beaver Rock, Booral, Dundowran Beach, Kawungan, Maryborough, River Heads, Tinana, Urangan, Walligan.
