Monochoria cyanea     F.Muell

This native aquatic plant is commonly known as blue hyacinth.

Monochoria cyanea is described as a "monocot" in the Pontederiaceae family.

Flagged as a potential locally significant species in the Fraser Coast Region. In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Although widespread across northern and north-eastern Australia it appears to be uncommon in the Fraser Coast region. Also reported at Boompa and Mayborough ( In Plants of the World Online known as Pontederia cyanea. Regarded as a wetland species in Queensland WetlandInfo.

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
