Species information

Stigmaphyllon ciliatum     (Lam.) A.Juss.

This introduced vine or climber is commonly known as Brazillian glory vine.

Stigmaphyllon ciliatum is described as a "dicot" in the Malpighiaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Recorded outside of Fraser Coast region near Tewantin and Brisbane. Well established at Fay Smith Wetlands in Maryborough (flowering December 2017) likely from a garden escape. Regarded as an emerging weed threat in Queensland (http://www.technigro.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/6-Brazilian-Glory-Vine.pdf). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 1 Fraser Coast locality: Maryborough.
