Species information

Brachychiton populneus subsp. populneus     (Schott & Endl.) R.Br.

This native tree is commonly known as kurrajong.

Brachychiton populneus subsp. populneus is described as a "dicot" in the Sterculiaceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Brachychiton is included in the family Malvaceae in the Australian Plant Census. Listed as a special least concern species in Queensland (https://www.qld.gov.au/environment/plants-animals/plants/protected-plants/harvesting). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.

Reported at 32 Fraser Coast localities: Bauple, Beaver Rock, Beelbi Creek, Boompa, Booral, Brooweena, Burrum Heads, Craignish, Doongul, Dundowran Beach, Eli Waters, Gigoomgan, Gunalda, Island Plantation, Kanigan, Magnolia, Malarga, Pacific Haven, Paterson, Pialba, Point Vernon, River Heads, Scarness, Susan River, Takura, Tandora, Toogoom, Torquay, Urangan, Wondunna, Yengarie, Yerra.
