Species information

Chamaecrista maritima     Pedley

This native groundcover is commonly known as coastal cassia.

Chamaecrista maritima is described as a "dicot" in the Leguminosae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is classified as Least Concern. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

Recorded south of Fraser Coast region. Nearest record is Point Lookout. This coastal species is likely to occur further north. ‘Back on Track’ high priority plant species for the Burnett Mary NRM region. Location and condition of populations in the region are poorly known (Department of Environment and Resource Management 2010, Burnett Mary Natural Resource Management Region Back on Track Actions for Biodiversity, Department of Environment and Resource Management, Brisbane.). 

It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census but is not listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
