Species information

Chrysanthemoides monilifera subsp. rotundata     (DC.) Norl.

This introduced shrub is commonly known as bitou bush.

Chrysanthemoides monilifera subsp. rotundata is described as a "dicot" in the Asteraceae family.

In the Queensland Nature Conservation Act it is not classified as it is not native to Queensland. Under the Federal Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act it is not classified.

In the past planted as a dune stabiliser. A category 2 restricted invasive plant under the Biosecurity Act 2014. Was established at Booral however may now be eradicated. Is likely still present on the south-east coast of K'gari (Fraser Island). It has been recorded in the Wide Bay district in the Queensland Herbarium Census and is listed as occurring in the Fraser Coast region in Queensland Herbarium Wildlife Online.
